Alyssa Alhadeff was a 14-year-old student at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.
She was one of seventeen people whose lives were ended in a mass shooting by a former student on February 14, 2018.
It is believed that if a mobile alert system had existed, local authorities could have prevented a mass shooting by responding sooner.
Shortly after, in memory of Alyssa, legislation passed Alyssa’s law.
Alyssa’s Law is critical legislation addressing the issue of law enforcement response time when a life-threatening emergency occurs in K-12 school systems.
The Law calls for the installation of silent panic alarms directly linked to law enforcement to allow them to arrive on the scene of an emergency as quickly as possible, take down the threat, and triage any victims.
